Interpreting the Interpretation – 12:00p-1:00p EST (0.1 PS CEUs)

Presenter: Jackie Haig

Deaf consumer perspectives from educational, video, and artistic settings, with emphasis on modern signs in interpreting.

Objectives: Identify effective approaches for interpreting for Deaf consumers, apply strategies to ensure information is conveyed clearly and accurately, and evaluate how these choices influence access.


Body Movement & Visual Vernacular – 1:00pm-3:00p EST (0.2 PS CEUs)

Presenter: Ian Sanborn

Interactive workshop using body movement, gesture, and rhythm for visual storytelling. Includes warmups, rhythm exercises, collaborative story creation, and reflection.  

Objectives: Apply two movement strategies, demonstrate gesture variation, and present a short VV piece.


Bias, What’s That? – 3:00p-4:00p EST (0.1 PPO CEUs)

Presenter: Jennifer Francisco

Explores how bias impacts interpreter–consumer relationships. Participants analyze scenarios, reflect on personal bias, and discuss strategies for change.

Objectives: Analyze types of bias, propose solutions, and identify one personal action step.

Registration required for those needing CEUs or certificates of attendance.
