Board of Directors Elections
Elections are held annually. Per the FRID Bylaws (revised in 2019), the nominations and elections process are contained in the FRID Policies and Procedures Manual (PPM). As part of the Nominations & Elections process, "all elections for the FRID Board of Directors shall be conducted electronically via a platform vetted and approved by the Board of Directors."
This year, the Board has selected Election Runner as the election platform.

Elections Information
Standard Election Timeline:
- Call for nominations (August 1 - August 15)
- Review nominations (August 16 - August 23)
- Nomination packet due for nominees (by August 30)
- Publication of Candidate Statements (by August 31)
- Launch election (on September 1)
- Close election (on September 8)
- Review results (September 9 - September 16)
- Send Results to members (by September 17)
Run-Off Election Timeline (*if necessary):
- Review write-ins (September 17 - September 24)
- Nomination packet due for write-ins (by October 1)
- Publication of Candidate Statements (by October 2)
- Launch run-off election (on October 3)
- Close run-off election (on October 10)
- Review run-off results (October 11 - October 18)
- Send results to members (by October 19)

Elections Cycles by Year
Elections shall run on the following cycles:
- In even numbered years, elections shall be held for the President, Vice-President of External Affairs, Secretary, Deaf Member-At-Large, Region Representative North, and Region Representative South.
- In odd numbered years, elections shall be held for the Vice-President of Internal Affairs, Treasurer, Member-At-Large, Region Representative East, and Region Representative West

Candidate Qualifications
All candidates must:
- Shall not concurrently serve as an elected officer on the Board of any other Affiliate Chapter of RID nor on the National RID Board.
- Shall be members in good standing of the FRID and the RID
- Shall be Florida residents, and
- Shall have been voting members in good standing of the FRID or another Affiliate Chapter of the RID for at least one (1) year immediately prior to candidacy.
The elected Executive Officers (President, Vice-President of Internal Affairs, Vice-President of External Affairs, Secretary, Treasurer, Deaf Member-At-Large, & Member-At-Large) must maintain valid certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc.

Nominations Packet Requirements
All candidates for the Board of Directors are asked to submit the following documents to the Nominations and Elections Committee via google form (https://forms.gle/jZeypQ3mV42anG889) by August 30:
- Professional headshot/photo
- Candidate Statement (produced both in ASL and written English) that includes a Statement of Intent and why they're a good fit for this position (video should be no more than 2 minutes in length)
- Biography
- Proof of all credentials/requirements for the position

Voting & Results
- All elections for the FRID Board of Directors shall be conducted electronically via a platform vetted and approved by the Board of Directors.
- Elections for all positions, whether contested or uncontested, shall be determined by ballot.
- Elections shall be determined by a majority vote of those eligible and voting.
- Electronic ballots are sent to voting members in good standing via their email listed in the FRID database. Voting will open September 1 and conclude September 8.
- Ballots shall be accepted only via the platform vetted and approved by the Board of Directors. Submission of a ballot in any other form shall be rejected and not counted.
- Election results shall be made known to the candidates and to the Board of Directors within ten (10) days of election closing. Results shall be announced to members and published on the FRID website according to the following timeline:
a. Standard Election: Results will be published by September 17.
b. *Run-Off Election: Results will be published by October 25.

Terms of Office & Election Years
- Terms of office shall officially commence on January 1 and terminate on December 31 of the respective years.
- Immediately following the Annual Business Meeting, the newly elected officers shall commence a transitional period under their respective predecessors.
- Term Limits - Executive Officers and Region Representatives shall hold the same office for no more than two (2) consecutive terms, unless no qualified successor is elected for the vacated position.
