About our presenter:
Babetta Popoff, B.A., NIC, CI
In her own words:
I'm a full-on-crunchy, tattooed, singing, writing, kitschy, skater-punk-hippie, philosophizing, curvaceous woman vibrationally resonating with my authentic self and working each day to pull her to the surface. I'm a life-long student-of-life who finally got a degree, and a 20-plus-year interpreting veteran who is just now mastering communication.
My journey has taken me from professional body piercer to seminary candidate, Psychology graduate to yoga teacher and I still dream of adding Broadway Diva to the list, but I never thought I’d be a "Coach."
Admit it, the words Life Coach conjure up all sorts of images not the least of which is a guy who "lives in a van down by the river" (R.I.P. Chris Farley).
But truth is it's what I do and what I feel best doing.
A coach teaches you the fundamentals of the game, shows you some time-tested plays, and fosters an environment of collaboration and success. The winningest coaches do all these things in spite of, not because of, the scoreboard.
My play-shops focus on mental, physical and emotional strategies that working interpreters can incorporate, in addition to their signing and voicing skills, to enhance their abilities in the field while ensuring good self-care both physically and mentally.
Together, we’ll create a comfortable, humor-filled atmosphere where it is safe to tackle some of the "tough stuff" in interpreting. I promise, my presentation style is refreshingly unorthodox and leaves participants feeling challenged yet successful.
As a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults), I understand intimately the dynamics of Deaf/hearing relationships.
