Workshop Objectives:
- Participants will learn how to initiate, maintain and terminate a mentoring relationship
- Participants will understand how assessment, goal setting, development and transfer lead to successful mentoring
- Participants will learn mentorship logistics and planning, through scaffolding for both the cognitive domain and performance domain
Cancellation and Refund Policy: In case of cancellation, workshops fees paid may be applied to future FRID workshops. No refunds will be given within 30 days of the workshop.
FRID is an Approved RID CMP Sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This Professional Studies program is offered for .6 CEU's at the “little or no” Content Knowledge Level.
Presenter's Bio:
"Phyllis Rogers holds an BA from Marquette University and an MA from Gallaudet University. She holds a CSC and NIC-Master certifications from RID and has been professionally interpreting since 1978. Her specialty areas of interpreting include social work, legal, mental health, international, and educational. She enjoys interpreting in business, conference and educational settings.
Phyllis provides ASL to English transcription services for video productions and research projects. She is past president of the Virginia Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Phyllis conducts diagnostic skills assessments and has presented workshops and training seminars on topics related to mentoring, transcription, and skill building.
She has designed a mentoring curriculum, Results! Mentoring, and has been privileged to provide direct mentoring to more than 60 interpreters. Phyllis authored "Sign Language Interpretation in Testing Environments", in Assessing Deaf Adults, Critical Issues in Testing and Evaluation, Mounty and Martin, ed. 2005."
