Theory and Practice for Deaf Interpreters, 

Part One

(Hearing Interpreters welcome)

September 11, 12 & 13, 2015

Description:  This module applies models of interpretation to the work of Deaf interpreters. Learners will explore the theory and practice of consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, and sight translation. Learners will have the opportunity to engage in observation and role-play activities whereby learners gain experience with a variety of approaches and discourse styles. 

Location: FSCJ South Campus, 11901 Beach Blvd, Building G, Room 105, Jacksonville, FL 32246

Cost = $70 for 15 hours of training - 1.5 CEU's available

Training schedule will be:  

Fridays 6-9pm 

Saturdays 8am-6pm & 

Sundays 9am-12pm

Presenter’s Bio: Bradley Dale hails from Texarkana, Arkansas and is second generation deaf and/or hard of hearing. Mr. Dale has a B.A. in ASL Studies, and M.A. in Interpretation, from Gallaudet University. He is also a Certified Deaf Interpreter since August 2012. He has been a volunteer interpreting for Deaf-Blind people in Washington, DC since 2005. Mr. Dale has taught ASL in Arizona, Hawaii, Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Currently, he is a full-time instructor at Florida State College at Jacksonville's Sign Language Interpretation Program.
