Interpreter Appreciation Day
Congratulations to all of these FRID members who were selected to win prizes in our 2020 drawing!
On Wednesday, May 6, FRID participated in National Interpreter Appreciation Day! This special day of honoring and thanking interpreters for their commitment to the field and to the communities we serve happens annually on the first Wednesday in May. This year we understand that many interpreters are in a difficult financial position because they aren’t working or working very little. FRID is in a good position to defray the cost of some memberships this year, so we have decided to waive the cost of membership for those who are unable to afford it this year due to COVID-19 closures. When you go to the FRID website to renew your membership, just go the very bottom of the renewal page and type in the coupon code FRIDCARES and your membership fee will be reduced by 100% from now until the end of our registration renewal grace period on August 31, 2020.
Another way FRID will be supporting interpreters this year will be to host a workshop before the end of the year to help anyone whose CEU cycle is ending. Anyone who is a member at the time the workshop is held will be able to take advantage of yet another way FRID will be supporting interpreters this year. FRID will provide three free hours of continuing education (0.3 CEUs) for anyone who is a member at the time of the workshop in an effort to help anyone whose CEU cycle ends this year. Our hope is that this will reduce the stress interpreters are experiencing in meeting their CEU requirements while many places are still closed down and workshops are being cancelled.
Although we appreciate you everyday, we will be flaunting our love for you even more on National Interpreter Appreciation Day! Stay tuned for more information and check out our Facebook feed on the first Wednesday in May. We hope that you know how much you are appreciated and how much we want to support you and all you do for the ASL community.
