About CERT
The purpose of this Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training is to provide interpreters who complete the course with the basic skills they need to respond to the Deaf community’s immediate situation in the aftermath of a disaster, and to take care of themselves when emergency services are not immediately available. CERT certification for interpreters is the first step in gaining the confidence and personal safety needed for interpreting in any disaster situation including interpreting for first responders, press conferences, in shelters, in the EOC and many situations related to emergency management.  The target audience for this course are interpreters who desire the skills and knowledge required to interpret in this event.
